WoodWear by Andrea, made by Andrea Gabhart, Louisville. Andrea recycles scraps of wood from her family’s business to create beautiful wood earrings, necklaces, and wall decor. My favorite are the large abstract giraffe print earrings! ($12)
Inherited Leather- Sue Schofield, Louisville, KY. Sue creates beautiful one of a kind bags, belts, and wallets using repurposed leather garments. I first met Sue in 2010 at a show we were both vending at for LVAA and have been selling her amazing goods since then when I was the Female Art Collective! One of my personal favorite items is this hand tooled corset belt ($56). You can wear it with a simple dress and one of her leather fringe bags, or with a pair of high waisted bells and a crop top for a hippie boho look.
Embroidered Kentucky jumper – Awesome by Jenna, Jenna Gordon Louisville, KY. Jenna makes a wide range of cute and/or edgy goods. Her baby line is on the cute side. I love this Kentucky onesie ($14) made with repurposed onesie! Reduce, reuse, recycle!
My last favorite eco friendly pick is from Sara Charles, Simka Sol (Boston, MA). Sara uses eco friendly processes in her studio. She created a way to print using sun exposed screens instead of using electricity and UV Rays. She uses absolutely no paper waste in her studio by using scraps of fabric for clean up. She used water based inks, and only prints on American Apparel.
This sloth tank ($26) is her best seller at Block Party, and one of my personal favorites. I just love those sleepy creatures! Do yourself and watch any baby sloth video on YouTube. This shirt is extra Eco friendly because 5% of every sale of this shirt is donated to the Wildlife Conservation Network!
